It is one of the vegetables with which results are almost immediate and immediately obvious. If you are feeling lethargic just go for a bunch of beetroot. It has helped me many times in the past.

Juicing is a little classier. I admit. However, we were on holiday and the greengrocers were only selling whole beetroot. Not a juiced version. So, I bit into it raw. Crude.
Obviously the above story conjures up a few questions about our social life and how much our lifestyles are dictated by neoliberal ideals. In a non-neolliberal world it would be perfectly acceptable to munch on a root vegetable just as it is. In our crazy fancy world, wrapped up in plastic and pesticides, the world which runs of fossil fuels, we have to process food a million times and then decorate it with something which gives impression of freshness. In our social world it is far more acceptable to get drunk and eat dead meat than it is to connect with earth. Etcetera...

It has that deep earthy taste with a little zest and a hint of spice from ginger.
It is rejuvenating, sweet and just perfect for regulating blood.
